These terms and conditions govern your use of the Coventry Car Buyer website (www.coventrycarbuyer.co.uk) and any services provided by Coventry Car Buyer, a local car buying service operating in Coventry and surrounding areas.
By using our website or requesting a valuation, you agree to these terms.
2. The valuation service
2.1 Any valuation or estimate provided over the phone or via our online form is an initial indication only, based on the information you provide. It is not a formal offer to purchase.
2.2 A formal offer to purchase will only be made following an in-person inspection of the vehicle at an agreed location.
2.3 The final offer made in person may differ from the initial estimate if the vehicle's condition, specification or history differs from what was described.
2.4 There is no obligation on either party to proceed with a sale at any stage prior to both parties signing the relevant transfer documentation.
3. Vehicle ownership and disclosure
3.1 By proceeding with a sale, you confirm that you are the registered keeper and legal owner of the vehicle, or that you have the authority to sell it on behalf of the owner.
3.2 You confirm that all information provided about the vehicle — including mileage, condition, service history and any known faults — is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
3.3 You confirm that the vehicle is free from any outstanding finance, or that any outstanding finance has been declared to us before the sale is agreed.
3.4 If outstanding finance is discovered that was not disclosed, we reserve the right to withdraw from the sale or seek recovery of any losses incurred.
4. Outstanding finance
4.1 If a vehicle has outstanding HP, PCP or other secured finance, we will obtain a settlement figure directly from the lender.
4.2 The settlement amount will be paid directly to the lender, and any remaining equity will be paid to you.
4.3 The total amount paid (settlement + equity) will not exceed the agreed purchase price.
5. Payment
5.1 Payment is made exclusively by Faster Payments bank transfer. We do not pay by cash, cheque or any other method.
5.2 Payment is initiated at the point of sale, following completion of the relevant documentation. Funds typically arrive within minutes via Faster Payments.
5.3 You must provide correct bank account details. We accept no liability for funds sent to incorrect account details provided by you.
6. DVLA and V5C transfer
6.1 Upon completion of the sale, we will assist with the completion of the V5C (vehicle registration certificate) and notify the DVLA of the change of keeper.
6.2 You should retain the yellow Section 10 slip of the V5C as your proof of sale until the change of keeper is confirmed by DVLA.
6.3 Road tax (vehicle excise duty) is automatically cancelled at the point of sale. Any refund for remaining full months will be issued by DVLA directly to you.
7. Cancellation
7.1 Either party may withdraw from a sale at any point before the sale documentation is signed and payment is initiated, without penalty.
7.2 Once payment has been initiated and documentation signed, the sale is considered complete.
8. Limitation of liability
8.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coventry Car Buyer's liability in connection with any vehicle purchase is limited to the agreed purchase price of the vehicle.
8.2 We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses arising from our services.
9. Website use
9.1 The information on this website is provided for general information purposes. Whilst we make every effort to keep content accurate and up to date, we make no representations or warranties about its completeness or accuracy.
9.2 Valuations and market price information on this website are indicative only and may not reflect actual offers for specific vehicles.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
